Migrate EV File System Archiver stubs and content to new server?

Hi

We are using Symantec File System Archiver (Enterprise Vault) on a Windows server.  We would like to migrate all of the stubs from server A to server B.

Is there any documentation around that we can follow?  

We also need to determine if all of the files on server A are stubs or a mixture of physical files and some stubs - can this be done?

Would we need to rehydrate all files then copy the physical files and then archive once at the destination?

I assume we would need to install the FSA agent/client on the destination server also?

Event ID 7083 - Retreival of saveset failed

I need a solution

have a newJournal partition which is journaling to HCP, over the last week or so I have been experiencing Event ID 7083 in the event LOG,retrieval of saveset failed. "The nework path was not found" I  have looked into this error and it looks like a truncated URL. A root path longer than 37 characters will cause the URL to the item to exceed the column's limit, and the URL will be written truncated. This then stops the saveset from being indexed.

This to me is a bit strange as I have been journaling to the HCP since Dec and this error has only just started to appear in the event log. Has anyone experienced this before? if so did you manage to fix this issue?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Evault and Horizon View Persona

Morning,

We use Evault in our environment and also use horizon view 6.0 with persona - when a user first logs into their vdi session and opens outlook there is a download that takes place from the appdata/local/kvs/enterprise vault folder and it downloads the .mdc file to the local profile - I am wondering how people are dealing with this?

Access denied running deleteo2k.asp as VSA

EV 10.0.4

DA 10.0.4

Windows 2008 R2

I have a Powershell script that takes searched items from DA and deletes them from the assocaited archive. When I Invoke the deleteo2k.asp in my script I get an Access denied due to invalid credentials. I am running this as the VSA.

Unfortunately I cannot cut and paste the output.

How do I provide the proper credentials to execute deleteo2k.asp?

Rollover Volumes

Hi all,

I'm trying to understand the rollover volume process.

When a Rollover occurs to a new volume how does that affect the access to the archive data in the previous Volume?

Can people still freely recall the data without IT intervention?

Hi All, 

We've recently installed Enterprise Vault (v.11.0.0.1444) into our environment (2x Exchange 2010 CAS/HT/MB in DAG). We have enabled most users now and have come up with our first virus alert on the EV front end server.

We are using Trend Officescan 10.6 SP3 and it flagged an infection:

Virus: TROJ_DALEXIS.SMH
Location: \Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy58\Enterprise Vault Stores\MBXVaultStore01 Ptn1\2015\01-28\0\000\ 0000E5463CFA3D1F929DB469C2473761~25~44062B41~00~1.DVSSP

We have used a SQL query to find out the specific user and folder which we have tracked down to an email in the Junk E-Mail folder, however the next step is to remove the email from the Vault console which is where the problem arrives.

At the moment, we have not got the setting "Users can delete items from their archives" turned on as we do not want users to be able to accidentally remove items. From reading TECH128602  it says we must turn this on, but it is a global setting on the EV site, so we could not get away with enabling it, without allowing users to also delete items.

Surely there is a way that admins can browse a user's vault and remove an email without giving everybody the privilege, does anyone know if this is possible ?

Otherwise I can only assume we would have to turn it on out of hours, remove the message and then turn it off again.

EV 9 SQL Query to display User Permissions

Hi,

I've searched the forum and I'm not sure this is possible but I need a SQL Query (or equivalent) to show me who has access to which Archives. I know permissionsbrowser does the same thing but this is not practical for 3000 plus Archives.

EV11 MailApp Error

First time I am using the OfficeMailApp feature and a little problem.

Can someone tell me what I did wrong or what I did forgot?

When I click on the Enterprise Vault tab I can see the applet loading but after that.. bamm.. error.

Any idea?

Storage Service Keeps Stopping

We have Enterprise Vault 8.0.3.1845 running on Windows 2003 SP2 Enterprise.

The issue we are seeing is exactly the one described in this Article: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?pag...

"Enterprise Vault (EV) Storage and Task Controller services stop because Message Queue (MQ) messages cannot be sent"

According to the article the resolution is to increase the MSMQ storage limit. We've tried to double the value (from 2GB previously to 4GB) and was able to start the Storage Service.. until it stopped again when the storage folder is filled with 4GB data again.

In this case, are we just suppose to keep increasing the storage limit or should we be looking at something else like what is causing the queue to just keep growing and filling up the storage folder? Any recommendations as to what we should consider checking in to?

Also to mention, there have been no successful backups for atleast 2 months now and trying to backup (using BackupExec) just fails. Could this have been contributing to the problem at hand?

Mailboxes are not getting smaller after Archiving with EV 9.0

Hi at all.

I am using Symantec Enterprise Vault 9.0 running on Windows 2k8 R2.

On the mailserver site we have Exchange 2007 running on Windows 2k8 R2.

The archiving of EV is running fine, backing up the data with Backup Exec 2014.

But when I check the size of the mailbox for example of John Doe, before the archive of EV it has 5 GB.

John doe is working for the company for 3 years and I have set that all mails older than 1 year should be archived.

After the archive the mailbox of the user John Doe, still has 5 GB.

Isn't the purpose of archiving mails to shrink the mailboxes?

What can I do, to get the mailbox smaller after the archiving?

Do I have to take the exchange DB and run eseutil?

Enterprise Vault Migration

Dear all,

I'm in the process of migration for enterprise vault server for 9.0.2 on windows 2003 x32bit ,, to new server 2008 x64 bit I want certain things to be clarified:

1 - I can install enterprise vault 10.0.4 ( on the 2008 x64 bit server ).

2 - Use the migration izzard tool to migrate the setting ( directly from 9.0.2 to 10.0.4 edition ).

3 - I'm migrating to a new server name with different server IP address so the DNS records are created automatically so I don’t need to create any new DNS records, or I have to modify the old server DNS record to point to the new server (IP address), or i have to modify the whole FQDN name. 

 your assistant is highly appreciated,, and may thanks in advanced.

I need a solution

Hello,

I don't know why but today, I have several users complaining that they had a message when opening Outlook that told them that Enterprise Vault Add-in had been disabled because not compatible with the EV server version.

Nothing has changed, server or client side.

Logging Level 3 gave us these information that may let think that Desktop Setting Server Version is set to null (where it should be 10.04)

How can I reset the server version to the correct one? Thank you for your help.

OWA Attachments appear as '65B'

I need a solution

I've recently built a new Client Access Server in our Exchange environment and to allow clients to get archived attachments when using external OWA, I installed the EV OWA extensions, added the new servers name to the 'ExchangeServers.txt' file on the Enterprise Vault server, ran the OWAUser.wsf script to apply the EVAnon permissions and restarted the EV services. Since doing this though, I am unable to retrieve any archived attachments no matter what CAS I connect to and they all appear as '65B'. I enabled EV logging and connected to OWA but I can see '[EVContext::LoadHiddenSettings] Retrieved hidden message from web services' so everything seems to be ok. Do I need to re-install the EV OWA extensions after running the OWAUser.wsf script or does anyone have any idea why this isn't working?

EV11 - Different retention policy for specific message class

I need a solution

I want to archive IPM.Schedule.Meeting.* and REPORT.IPM*, but apply a specific retention policy to those files.

I find I am being left with folders full of these file types, because they are not included in my existing archive policy.

I have added the IPM.Schedule.Meeting.* class, and created a retention policy I want to use.

I then created a new Mailbox policy, which applied the settings I want, and selected the Message Classes I want.

I then created a provisioning group, and tied this all together, and applied it to one user.

It hasn't helped though. I assume a mailbox can only be assigned to one provisioning group.

Is there another way of acheiving what I am after?

Bonjour à tous,

Je rencontre un soucis chez un client où j'ai déployé Symantec Enterprise Vault 11 For Exchange.

Symantec Enterprise Vault 11 a été installé sous un OS Windows server 2012.

Le domaine local du client est group.adds et le domaine externe est company.com

Ceci dit le serveur EV est dans le domaine group.adds d'où l'alias du serveur est: evserver.group.adds 

Alors en interne il n'y a pas de soucis avec les utilisateurs, cependant, en externe c'est-à-dire hors du site du client,

les utilisateurs n'arrivent pas à ouvrir ni les shortcuts ni les pièces jointes dans les shortcuts. Dans le message d'erreur nous pouvons voir "Impossible de

trouver le serveur evserver.group.adds, car la résolution DNS a échoué ....".

Comment publier le serveur EV, avec un firewall, sachant que l'adresse http://evserver.group.adds/enterprisevault/* n'est pas resolvable sur internet?

Est-il possible de changer l'url http://evserver.group.adds/enterprisevault/* -- -- --> http:/archive.company.com/enterprisevault/* sans deranger le bon

fonctionnement du serveur EV?

EV journal archiving rates by Exchange mailbox or archive

I need a solution

Hi All

I need to get journal archiving rates between X and Y dates, by Exchange mailbox, or archive, or journal tasks.

I found a number of SQL queries queries relating to this, but not quit one that works. This is close:

but only works for mailbox archiving tasks, not journaling tasks.

Does anyone have any sample queries?

Exchange Vault Store Reporting, hang and nothing happens

I need a solution

Upgraded Enterprise Vault to EV 11 on Windows server 2012R2. 
Mail’s archived as expected.

Problem: 

In EV console, I am trying to look at reporting on Exchange Vault Store, it starts the process, but no result. A green progress line is showing but stops/hang.
In Task Manager the w3wp.exe process is started an use about 50% CPU.
If I stop this process, EV console reports that “This page can't be displayed”.

It looks like something in IIS not configured correct, but I can't figure out what.

It is possible the problem has some connection with  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2803161 
I put the lines described in web.config file, but when I run the Deployment Scanner it still marks this with warning. I tried to run Method 2 but those commands will not run, no matter which way I am trying to run them. (With administrative privilege or in PowerShell.)

Look at the attachment

Summarize Archived Data

I need a solution

Hi,

I'm trying to make a case for storage expiry. One particular thing I'm after is a way to summarise the archived data by date, sent/received date, something like a count for specific periods (months/years). Size info would be nice but not a show stopper. It's hopefully a onetime thing.

Something like this would be perfect:

Period                      Archived Items                         Size GB
June 2010                2,000,000                                 150 GB
July 2010                 1,800,000                                 130 GB
August 2010             1,700,000                                 124 GB

Any Reports/Tools I can use?

Any SQL queries I can run? There is an 'IDDateTime' in the saveset table, can I use this to count archived items? or which table/columns could I query?

Any help greatly appreciated,

'Restoration is not currently available'

I need a solution

Although EV is currently searching and discovering objects, ehrn I try and 'restore my baskets' I am getting 'Restoration is not currently available'.

Has anyone seen this before or have any idea how to fix or at least trioubleshoot?
