I have an EV archivepoint but for some reason I have no idea about the archive volume or archive path information. Tried to guss by using ArchivePoints.exe find or read UNC path at command prompt but no luck. I have the ArchiveID through the Enterprise Vault Console. Is it possible to get this through SQL query?

Have a strange one here on a users machine, the other day they could not load their email in oulook 2007 from archive.
The other support person recreated their profile uninstalled the ev client 10.0.4.1189
I then recieved the device.
I went into safe mode and uninstalled any left overs of the EV client rebooted into normal mode and tried to resintall client.... When i do i get the following error message
Could not delete ket \SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Search\Gather\windows\Systemindex\protocols\evoffline3x. Verify the you have sufficeient access to that key.
I can see that the user and local user cannot access those keys and cannot delete them i cant even add them to the folder.... So it appears to be some corruption. the user in on Windows 8.1. they have been using the client for 2 yrs... (very bizarre) if anyone has any ideas would you please be able to assist.

I'm looking for some guideness.
We have had our default retention period set for 7 years since day 1 of our setup, however we have never enabled the function to automatically delete expired items. We have also allowed our users to manually delete items if they wish. We have been running EV since 2010 and we have seen our storage needs grow quite considerability and now we wish to enable to automatic deletion of expired items.
Before I enabled this option I read quite a few posts about if I lower the retention period on the same "default" retention period and hence not creating or new one then the emails shall delete I.E it will pick up the new period I set and expire items older then the new value of 4 years. So what I did, was change the default retention period from 7 to 4, setup the storage expiry in the Site Settings to expire based on Archived Date and set up the schedule (also made sure that prevent items to be deleted in the retention catergroy wasn't ticked); I then restarted the EV services and did a report now. The report now showed nothing would be deleted, in the Event Log it doesn't show any items to be deleted:

So I thought, I would reboot the server and let the process run over night with the schedule that I set up, after coming back in I had the same problem, with the Event Log showing the task was completed but with no emails deleted.
So I then ran an re-build index on just my mailbox (which worked no problems) and tried a run now again and same problem, no emails were deleted. I have emails still showing older then the retention period.
I have an Exchange (which is 2007) retention policy to delete emails only in the deleted items folder after 30 days, this works no problem and I see that when the storage expiry task runs, it deletes emails matching this policy.
Is there something I'm missing for default retention period?

We have a situation with Enterprise vault with one of our clients. They work with public folders, and these are all archived with Enterprise vault. Two users complain not all subfolders are visible. Other users in the same department using the same public folders see all subfolders. How do I make these folders visible again for these users? They are using version 9.0.1.1073. Webinterface and Outlook-plugin are both missing the same subfolders for these users. A rebuild index doesn't help, same folders are missing for the same users. I found some links here where the solution should be, but the links are dead....
We currently have our retention categories set for forever. But finally we are about to put timeframe on them. What is the best way to run reports to determine how much data will be deleted based on certain time frames?

I am using the Server Setting Migration Wizard to upgrade from EV 9.0.4 on 2003 32-bit to EV10.0.4 2012 R2 64-bit. Does the wizard transfer the Certificate or do I have install a new one.

We are upgrading from EV 9.0.4 on server 2003 32-bit to EV 10.0.4 on server 2012 R2 64-bit. We will be using the same SQL server 2008 R2. In running the deployment scanner it came up with a mixed collation on the EVDashboard Database. I have come across a number of documents each with a different method. Tech doc from Symantec TECH55063 I was given as a fix but it is only used to identify mixed collations. Does anyone have some helpful information as to a method that will go through the database and change the collation on all the existing information to match the default collation of SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS.

we are using EV 8 sp5. Is there anyway using SQL to obtain the size of an archived subfolder? EG. If a user has Inbox and a subfolder in his archive can i just get archived items and items size on the subfolder or only at the top levef of the archive?

We have had KVS Vault running for years to archive our external mail (all external mail is copied to a mailbox which is then archived into the vault and deleted from the mailbox).
A few weeks ago, it stopped archiving (i.e. the mail was not copied to the vault and wasn't being deleted from the mailbox). I wasn't able to find a solution but for whatever reason it started working again on it's own after a few days of me poking about and cleared down the outstanding mail. A two weeks ago it stopped again but this time it didn't restart and the mailbox is curently at about 8GB and growing daily.
This was all set up before I started working here so I've been looking through to see how it is set up and how it works. I have noticed that there is a service called Enterprise Vault Archiving Service for <server name> which is set to automatic but wasn't running. When I started it, it stopped immediately saying there was nothing for it to do. Later I was looking through the event logs and noticed the Archive Service was giving two errors.
1. There is no valid licence key installed. The Archiving Service will not run until you install a licence key; and
2. The Archiving service for <server name> could not be started due to startup errors.
Reading through the admin help, it looks like we are running in demo mode (ie. restore but no archiving) though I can't see anything to say this for sure.
The admin help also referred to a licence key file called keys_computername.txt which I found by searching the hard drive and it appears to be in the correct location. Nothing in this licence seemed to refer to any sort of expiry date and has the word permenant in it. I have restarted the Server a few times and restarted the Enterprise Vault Admin Service which is supposed to install the licence key but nothing changed. I did note though that once the licence key is installed there should be a folder called Installed Licences but I have searched for this and it doesn't seem to exist.
Idea's?

I have check the table WatchFile under the Vaultstore DB and found that there are 3414 item with the value "1" for ItemSecured column.

I Run the DBCC SHOWCONTIG WITH ALL_INDEXES before and after of running (newly created Maintenance plan https://goo.gl/d1dUsC) and attach the file SHOWCONTIG_BeforeMain.zip and SHOWCONTIG_AfterMain.zip.
Still no change.
How can I clear this 3414 files.
All this file where backup only with DPM, they are in difference Vault Partition and are from different dates.

EV 11 sp 1 environment
A customer is going to be moving all data, archived and unarchived. between two file servers. The File Servers are called Server A (old server ) and Server B ( new server). These are Windows Server 2008 and 2012
So the customer plans to simpy more all data between the two servers using Robocopy, they did a test on some folders and what I noticed is that on Server B all data is copied including Placeholders. The opening of Placeholders also works so obviously the Robocopy command is moving the Offline File, the Placeholders,
What the customer plans to do is copy all data between the two File Servers and then simply remane Server B to the same name as Server A.
How would this effect FSA as I assume if the Archive Points are copied ( alternative data stream - ADS ) then when the File Server is renamed will EV still continue to see the Server B as Server A as the names are the same?
I want to avoid a situation where EV creates duplicate Archive Points when it starts retargeting Server B but would it do this if the File Server names are now the same?

I need to virtualise an EV 10 server. I know the wizard was designed to migrate from 32 bit to 64 bit hardware during a 9 to 10 upgrade, but I was wondering if I can use it to migrate a physical 10 server to virtual hardware.
The HOWTO for the wizard states: "The Enterprise Vault Server Settings Migration wizard supports migrations from Enterprise Vault 9.0.1 or later source servers, to unconfigured Enterprise Vault 9.0.1 or later target servers. The version of Enterprise Vault installed on the target server must be equal to or later than the version installed on the source server."
That the versions can be equal tells me that I can indeed use the tool to do what I want to do. It would be great to get confirmation of this though before I try.

Hi all,
We are currently upgrading from EV 9 to a EV 11 and we want to use the Enterprise Vault Mailbox app which requires HTTPS. Now we are in the process of requiring a certificate but our concern is the FSA shortcuts. According to the documentation the FSA shortcuts will not work if we change from HTTP to HTTPS. Will this also effect Sharepoint?
How can we update or upgrade the FSA shortcuts after the HTTPS change? Is the only way using FSA Utlity?

I have a customer where we have implemented SMTP archiving. Its working fine
- email are forwarded to EV SMTP server, these emails are converted to .EML files and stored in the SMTP Holding area
- EV then moves this data to SMTP archive
The customer then uses Discovery Accelerator to search and find the data. We then export the Search result to PST..and this is where the issue happens
If I open the PST in Outlook I see its all in .eml format and Oultook cannot open .eml
Is this by design where the PST from a DA export for SMTP archving will contain emails in .EML format?
And if so how would you know view this data? I can use a EML viewer but I am interested in how other people are doing it?
