Office 365 and Mail Archiving

Hello.  Thanks for the time.  I have a quick question in regards to Office 365 and mail archiving with Enterprise vault.  we have an on-prem EV and we want to test office 365.  According to the whitepaper journaling can still function as is.  However mailbox archiving will not since there seems to be a limitation by Office 365 where it does not allow EV to access the hosted Exchange environment.  What is the solution to go around this?  EV.cloud? and if so is there a whitepaper on that?  Thanks.
