Multiple Partition rollover on single NTFS volume
I need a solution
I have 2TB LUN created for one of the Enterprise Vault server. It is configured to use NTFS volume (G:\). I created 8 ‘250GB’ vault store partition.
- G:\Enterprise Vault Stores\VSMailbox Ptn1
- G:\Enterprise Vault Stores\VSMailbox Ptn2
- ....
- ....
- ....
- G:\Enterprise Vault Store\VSMailbox Ptn8
I’m trying to figure out how to configure Rollover based on 8 vault store partitions that I had created. I don’t want to create 8 LUN and assigned different drives for each LUNs. I figure that I should be able to use 2TB LUN on the server.
Since the Rollover is based on volume or time, I guess my only option is to use volume for rollover. My thought was to configure rollover based on “When volume reaches xxx GB free”.
- Pnt1 (250GB) ; When volume reaches 1750 GB free
- Pnt2 (250GB) ; When volume reaches 1500 GB free
- Pnt3 (250GB) ; When volumes reach 1250 GB free
- Pnt4 (250GB) ; When volumes reach 1000 GB free
- Pnt5 (250GB) ; When volumes reach 750 GB free
- Pnt6 (250GB) ; When volumes reach 500 GB free
- Pnt7 (250GB) ; When volumes reach 250 GB free
- Pnt8 (250GB) ;
When I tried to configure the rollover, I get a warning message
“A partition on this volume is already configured for volume-based rollover. We recommend that you do not configure volume-based rollover for more than one partition on a volume, unless you are using volume mount points. Are you sure want to continue?”
Would this approach work and safe to ignore the warning message?

Public Folder Permissions not synchronising

Our public folders are archiving fine, but the permissions are not coming over in the archive properties of the public folders, they are blank. We are using 10.0.1.1171
I have used the Permission Browser and see entries for users for allow and deny (user details taken out). I also tried a dtrace but don’t think I selected the correct option (tried Mailbox archiving issues – Exchange) , does not seem to be a Public Folder option in the list.

EV9 Centera - 6760 - No access node can be found

Hello all,
While also working with EMC on this, I figured I'd ask here to see if anyone has seen this before.
On Journal Archving servers, we see the event 6760, indicating EV cannot find an Access Node for centera. I've verified that the ip-addresses in the Journal Partitions used are correct, and functioning. According to EMC, replication is fine. I do not have large queues, or large journalmailboxes, so it appears to be functioning fine. The error however is worrying me slightly. There is little internal knowledge on EMC Centera. The network-team is investigating possible firewall changes, no result yet. If any of you have seen this before, please advise?

OWA 2010 Extensions with EV server 9.0
I need a solution
Hi everybody.
I'm working in a transition/instalation of Exchange 2010 from Exchange 2003, and now I'm going to install EV OWA Extensions on CAS 2010 Servers.
Now, I have EV 9.0, but I will upgrade EV to 10.0.3 in few months.
Can I install the OWA Extensions 2010 in the new CAS servers with EV server 9.0? Or I may install the 9.0 version by the moment?

Migration from Autonomy
I need a solution

I have a client who is currently using Autonomy and wishes to migrate to EV. The size of the Archived data used by Zantaz is about 2TB, but when this is migrated into EV will require 2TB of space to host this data?
I'm not sure if Zantaz uses compression and\or SIS that is the same\better\worse than that achieveable by EV. Assuming my client is using NTFS volumes for the archives and will be sharing across the vault store group is there a rule of thumb to calculate the additional space when migrating specfically from Autonomy?

McAfee issues with EV10?

I was wondering if it is better to use Outlook 2007 SP3 32bit or 64bit on the EV 10.0.3 server. I can't find anything specific in the compatibility guide, so should I assume that it does not matter?

Multiple volumes for EV Partitions
I need a solution

If I need a 10TB archive area for my email archives and I want each partition to be 2TB prior to rollover (for backup purposes) what are the benefits of creating these are 5 x 2TB volumes on the HP SAN storage over creating a single 10TB volume.
I suspect rollover would be simplified as the properties page seems to assume that rollover is done at a volume size level - by which I mean that I get options to rollover when there is a certain % or GB space left on the partition..... if I had a single 10TB partition and I wanted to rollover the partition when it reached 2TB then my first parttion would need to roll over when 80% space was left and my second would need to rollover when there was 60% space left etc etc so each partition would require a unique set of settings.
Is it generally a more common practice to configure partition sizes at the array level where possible and to have the EV server with multiple volumes (eg G:\ H:\ J:\ K:\ L:\ etc) ?

FSA restore a specific archive to different location

We want to restore a specific FSA archive to different location where file server doesn't exist anymore.
FSA Utility cannot be used because the same target folder has archives in more than one vault store.
We only want to restore from a specific archive from a specific vault store.
Is that possible? If yes then how?

Sorry to comment on a 2 months old post however I have a user who has tried all this already and he is still being prompted to enter user credentials while opening an archived item.
Strangely though what is happening is, It is only happening with mails inside a shared mailbox with attachments. He gets error "Your account does not have access to the vault containing this item. Try using the same logon details as you would use to log on to Microsoft Exchange Server. Alternatively you may ask your Help Desk to grant you access to the Vault. Do you want to log on to Enterprise Vault under another account?"
If he clicks no, the mail opens without attachment.
If he clicks yes, and enter his normal windows credentials, prompt keeps coming back.
If he clicks yes, and enter VSA credentials, mail open just fine along with the attachment.
I've never seen anything of this kind before. Was wondering if anybody has any idea where the connection is breaking.

Enterprise Vault Outlook 2010 Add In - Create/Synchronize Empty Folders from mailbox
I need a solution
I have some users who have created folders for organizing their email in their mailboxes. Some of these folders are empty, but they wish to keep them for furture purposes. We recently set up Enterprise Vault version 10, provisioned the individuals in question and installed their Outlook add-in.
EV is only creating/synchronizing folders that have contents. The empty folders they have in their mailboxes they want to be created/syncrhonized in EV.
How do you set up or what options need to be changed to allow the creation of empty folders from the user mailboxes in the users' vault?

Vault Outlook Add-In Compatability
I need a solution
I'm currently running Vault for Exchange 9.0 (no service packs yet). My clients are running Outlook 2010 with the 9.0.1.1038 add-in. Shouldn't matter, but I'm on Exchange 2010. A few questions:
I'm looking at upgrading to Vault Server 9.0.3 or 9.0.4 as an interim upgrade before moving to v10. Will the 9.0.1.1038 Outlook add-in work with 9.0.4 on the server?
Will the 9.0.1.1038 Outlook add-in work with Vault Server 10.0.3?
Will the Vault 10 Outlook add-in work with with Vault Server 9.x, and if so, will it work with all versions from 9.0 to 9.0.4?
Is there a client that will work with Outlook 2013 and Vault Server 9.0 (or at least 9.0.x)?
Part of what I'm trying to determine is when I'll need to upgrade my clients in the server upgrade process.
I was not able to find these answers in the upgrade documentation, so I really appreciate any assistance.

New user archive mail into leaf user mailbox archive

For example, i have domain\userA in past year, somehow we didnt delete, now, when another user have same name, the ev didnt enable those mailbox archive,
We didnt notice that , and follow the symantec KB change the vaule HKLM\SOFTWARE\KVS\Enterprise Vault\Agents\SynchInMigrationMode to 1 (already change back to 0)
now, we have 3 user have that problem,
I want to divide those leaft user and current user in mail archive.
I have disabled those mailbox for those user in EV, but If i enable again, EV dont know creaate new archive, they keep use the old mail archive
my question is what is the method to divide back into 2 mail archive,
I tried to restore the message in user mailbox( user login outlook and we help to click restore item in Outlook) , but 1 of them have too many folder and too many item, If i click 1000 item restore, the outlook is going to hang and the message is say planning to archive but cannot finish
second method
export all old email from mail archive into PST and create a new mail archive and import into it, delete those old email in archive
(but i cannot find a button to create a mailbox archive and delete email)

EV9.04 exchange 2010 outlook 2013

few month, we upgrade our exchange 2003 to exchange 2010. Some issu with the outlook web acces (network know issu), but everything else, is working very well.
Since this morning, I update my Outlook 2007 client for Outlook 2013.
The enterprise vault add-in witch was an old one, failed asap I open OE 2013.
On this forum I read some help, who told to use EV 10 client add in.
I Did.
90% of my option work... but one of then are down. It's the Vault cache (who provide me to scroll the folder under my outlook view). Since 2007 to 2010, under "Archive center My Name" there is nothing.
But if I use the archive explorer, it's ok, I have all my archive.
I try a reset vault cache folder. He synchronize (very long time with a lot of downloading item... my archive are set up since 2009), but still nothing under the archive center (or virtual vault, i'm confuse with the name, as my is in french "centre d'archivage".
Maybe Outlook 2013 are not recommended with enterprise vault 9.0.4 ?
